The transition went pretty smooth yesterday. No one seemed to notice. I moved to my favorite distro, Mandrake Linux, along with updates to all the software.

The Reverend is going to open a 5k version of my new Back to Basics game at twgs.thereverend.org this Friday at 9pm eastern time. It’s 3 traders/corp, 5k sectors, 2k turns, 2 million starting colonists.

Since “Another Game” has been postponed, and I’m sure many of you were looking forward to playing a game this weekend, I’m gonna be opening a new game featuring all new CK Edits.

3/corp, and you’re gonna have to choose between an aggressive red start, or a longer term blue buildup — both will be feasible strategies.

Basics are 20k sectors, 2k turns, best gridding ship is 3 tpw. Plenty of colos, good planet production, citadel upgrades are pretty fast, but also very expensive. Game is NOT MBBS (the mbbs atmo cannon is outrageous, IMO), but very low rob setting means a red can still get back the credits from buydowns.

Game Starts 2pm eastern time on Saturday 6/5/04. Extern is midnight eastern.

Running a TWGS on a cable modem has it’s problems. I had the same IP for almost two years! But now it’s changed, most likely from the switch when Comcast bought out AT&T.

DNS will update soon, but for now, telnet to 67.181.158.180 to access the TWGS.

Effective immediately, The Lost Traders Tavern will operate under a new part time schedule. The server will only be available between 10pm and 11pm eastern time. Extern will run at 10:30pm.
