Cruncher has posted an update today in the tradewars_2002 group stating that the beta team is “hot & heavy into working on .42 now.” Check out the rest of the message here and the official beta testing site here. Good work Cruncher and the rest of the beta testers!

4th Annual Trade Wars Awards
A lot of people have been asking about the 4th Annual Trade Wars Awards recently…The 4th Annual Awards will be hosted by the Home Sector web site in the near future. A few of us were throwing ideas around at the end of 2000 and earlier this year about it and we hope to have it up shortly. As far as I know Wookie and myself will be directly involved; I’m unsure about others at this time.
There will be plenty of notice and time for nominations before the voting process begins. I don’t have an exact timeline for this project right now, but we would like to get it up ASAP. I will post more on this later as things progress.

New TWGS On The Scene!
Necromancer’s Hard Drive just opened last Wednesday (February 14th). Here is some information I received from Andrew Bubb, the server administrator:“There are currently two games running, node size is set very high right now, I’m still waiting to see what my system can handle. The first game is 20K slightly modified, with a new planet design. Unlimited turns and 5 hour time limit. It’s somewhat of a super-sized game. A style that I’ve come across, and have enjoyed in the past few months of playing IP based TW.
The second game is a MBBS game of 5000 sectors based on what I remember were pretty much standard settings locally. 1000 turns, fairly convoluted universe, no time limit, standard starting point for figs, creds, etc. Advanced alien/ferrengi. Starts out 120 days ahead.
Both games were banged on 2/14/2001″
New Game(s) This Wednesday!
We were supposed to rebang some new stuff yesterday, but with my Internet connection troubles I wasn’t able to log on and work on them.We will bang those on Wednesday, be sure to check ’em out!
Aitvo Interviewed By Kitty Moon
Kitty Moon interviewed Aitvo over the weekend. You can view the interview here. Very well done and interesting reading. :)If you didn’t already know, Aitvo is part of the Home Sector/Stardock BBS staff as well. I’m working on putting a staff page up on the site in the near future.

Lunix Guy Gets Interviewed
Kitty’s Playground has just posted an Interview with Andrew “Aitvo” Wyatt. Here’s a snip:
Kitty Moon: In your opinion, what one thing or person has affected Trade Wars the most in a positive way?
Aitvo: John Prichett–he is the man. He is the single reason Trade Wars is still around. Without his constant attention and focus on finishing and debugging the game, it would have died by now. It’s people like John that made it an honor to host Trade Wars. After John I would have to say Cruncher is the second most important person as she has been the lead Beta Tester for a long time, and has worked very hard to assist John.

Cruncher will be interviewed tonight on WEJL Radio.
New Online Record for Fusion & TWGS
Check out this screen cap from the server. The most people online I’ve ever seen at once. Congrats to Bad Girl and Guardian, their USO Tournament’s popularity is the sole reason for this.
