I stated yesterday that Timberwolf was retiring, scratch that he's taking a break. I meant to say semi-retirement which that is basically what taking a break is. Sorry for the confusion. (You can ICQ me or e-mail next time T-wolf and I'll change it, I don't check other sites often to find out if I've made a mistake.)

The Home Sector moving to Fusion GS!
by EleqTrizi'T on 2000-12-12 | Categories: Site News, TWGS Servers, TWGS Software, TradeWars News
The Home Sector officially announces it's move to the Fusion GS! Sometime in the near future I will be installing a Linux server running the latest Fusion software, running an emulation of MajorBBS! What started out as an innocent question to Aitvo, "Can you get Fusion to work more like MajorBBS?", has turned into a full‑fledged obsession for both of us. In the past week I have joined the Fusion Development Team and have started adding new Fusion modules, the first being a [fully‑working clone of a MajorBBS teleconference!](https://web.archive.org/web/20001214215000/https://www.thestardock.com). There are private rooms, actions, whispers, directed messages, even global pages!
While it is still a work in progress, the feel of a genuine MBBS system has definitely been achieved. Soon we will add Forums and even global paging right into AND OUT OF the TWGS! The best part...65,000+ nodes!
The date of the switch over will be announced soon. Currently running games on the TWGS will be unaffected, but all new games will be banged on a secondary TWGS until all games on the old system can be migrated safely.
The Home Sector Going Fusion FAQ
by EleqTrizi'T on 2000-12-12 | Categories: Site News, TWGS Servers, TWGS Software, TradeWars News
I've been getting a lot of questions regarding the HS's move to Fusion GS. So here is a FAQ that will hopefully address most of the concerns..
I use different handles in different games, how am I going to continue these with just one BBS handle? - The Home Sector will move to Fusion and run TWO seperate TWGS servers for the first month or so. Current games will be moved to the "old" server, Premier, and be closed to new players, but remain freely accessible until they finish with whatever handle you use. New games will be banged on server Retaliator, and you will log into those using your Fusion handle.
What kind of hardware will the Fusion server be running? For the geeks like me out there, I will be running a dedicated box with an AMD chip of around 700-800MHz. All internal networking will be done with top-quality Intel network cards.
Will the BBS mean we have to start paying? No. My end-user license agreement with my ISP forbids me from running a commercial site. However, I am considering special priviledge to those who have donated.
What are the long term plans? I have really big plans for this server. Since I am now deep into Fusion development and working closely with [Fusion founder Aitvo](https://web.archive.org/web/20001214215000/https://www.intergate.cx/), I have unheard of control of this system. I am no longer just another customer of BBS software, I am the creator! (uh oh here comes the gOD complex again...)
How close is Fusion to really running like a MajorBBS/Worldgroup system? Really damn close. On top of the teleconference pic on the front page, check out this forum picture taken yesterday...

Java Scripts for SWATH
by Fuseblown on 2000-12-11 | Categories: Helpers/Scripts, TWGS Software, TradeWars.ws
With the new version of [SWATH](https://web.archive.org/web/20000000000000*/https://www.swath.net) being released recently I have yet to see anyone writing scripts for it (or that at least post them for people to download). If anyone knows of anyone that is doing this, please let me know. If I don't see any for a while, I will post some of my own (once I finish them, heh).
Web-based Helper

[Goosemoose.com](https://web.archive.org/web/20000000000000*/https://www.goosemoose.com) has launched a browser-based TW helper. There aren't too many features on it at the moment, but it does have the potential to be really cool.

Haunted Halloween Tournament

No news lately out of the HHT. The [Death Count List](/files/Site%20Caps/BooInc/news.html) hasn't been updated and no one has really been saying anything about it. If anyone has any new information, please let me know. With Timberwolf currently [in retirement](/category/TW_Gazette), is the Death List still going to be updated? Hasn't been since 12/5/00...TIA.
