Canada Open Announced
by Fuseblown on 2000-12-21 | Categories: TradeWars.ws, TradeWars News, TWGS Servers
*Are you tired of your Trade Wars games being decided when the fat lady sings? Are you tired of your elections (and Trade Wars games) being improperly handled with the results being published before the election is even over? Are you tired of intellectual trash like Wheel of Fortune refusing to accept Canadian contestants?*
That is not the Canadian way, we are not the 51st state, and as Canadians, we should have a Canadian tournament on a Canadian server moderated by a Canadian sysop with rules posted in both English and in French. We must take action!
Canadian beer is better than American beer, Canadian Trade Wars can be too. Sign up for the Canada Open hosted on Canada's Mission: Night Hawk BBS ([nighthawk.lakehead.net](telnet://nighthawk.lakehead.net)). The game will begin on April 1st, 2001 to celebrate Newfoundland's 52nd anniversary as a Canadian province. Contact sysop@nighthawk.lakehead.net for more information about this tournament.

WWW-Based Java Helper
by Fuseblown on 2000-12-20 | Categories: TradeWars.ws, Helpers/Scripts, TradeWars News
I forgot to forward myself the original news submission for this story today before I left work so I'll improv this one until I get to my office tomorrow. Here is the basic announcement, more detailed information will be added on Thursday.
GooseMoose.com has created a free, open source, www-based java TW helper. To check it out, go to [https://www.goosemoose.com](https://web.archive.org/web/20000000000000*/https://www.goosemoose.com) and click on "Games". I checked it out when it was first announced, ran pretty good, could use more options, but I assume that's why it's open source. Has good potential!
EIS Online down, World Tumbles into Chaos
by Mana Knight on 2000-12-19 | Categories: TradeWars.org, TradeWars News
Yes, [EISOnline](https://eisonline.classictw.com/) is down. So this means you'll have to wait a little longer to get your TWGS registration codes. Deal with it.
Of course, if everyone were playing [Lunar: Eternal Blue](https://web.archive.org/web/20000000000000*/https://www.dailyradar.com/reviews/game_review_1110.html), you wouldn't have to wait for reg codes.

My Apologies
by Fuseblown on 2000-12-12 | Categories: People, TradeWars.ws, TradeWars News
I stated yesterday that Timberwolf was retiring, scratch that he's taking a break. I meant to say semi-retirement which that is basically what taking a break is. Sorry for the confusion. (You can ICQ me or e-mail next time T-wolf and I'll change it, I don't check other sites often to find out if I've made a mistake.)

The Home Sector moving to Fusion GS!
by EleqTrizi'T on 2000-12-12 | Categories: Site News, TWGS Servers, TWGS Software, TradeWars News
The Home Sector officially announces it's move to the Fusion GS! Sometime in the near future I will be installing a Linux server running the latest Fusion software, running an emulation of MajorBBS! What started out as an innocent question to Aitvo, "Can you get Fusion to work more like MajorBBS?", has turned into a full‑fledged obsession for both of us. In the past week I have joined the Fusion Development Team and have started adding new Fusion modules, the first being a [fully‑working clone of a MajorBBS teleconference!](https://web.archive.org/web/20001214215000/https://www.thestardock.com). There are private rooms, actions, whispers, directed messages, even global pages!
While it is still a work in progress, the feel of a genuine MBBS system has definitely been achieved. Soon we will add Forums and even global paging right into AND OUT OF the TWGS! The best part...65,000+ nodes!
The date of the switch over will be announced soon. Currently running games on the TWGS will be unaffected, but all new games will be banged on a secondary TWGS until all games on the old system can be migrated safely.
