For those of you that like megacorping, Prestone and Space Ghost, in conjunction with OldTimer and [CoastGames](https://web.archive.org/web/20020000000000*/https://www.coastgames.com/) have created a new game!
[BIG GAME](https://web.archive.org/web/20020000000000*/https://www.coastgames.com/biggame/index.php) is a game where players sign-up ([https://www.coastgames.com/biggame/index.php](https://web.archive.org/web/20020000000000*/https://www.coastgames.com/biggame/index.php)) and will later be hand-picked by Prestone and Space Ghost to form two large megacorps to battle one another. Once enough people are interested, they will begin picking teams one-by-one from the players who have registered.
Settings have been agreed upon by both captains and are posted at the BIG GAME web site.
They're shooting for August 30, at 9:00 PM EDT for the game start, provided enough people sign-up by that time. At the time of this post, 30 people have signed up, making 32 total counting Prestone and Space Ghost! This looks to be an interesting game! 16-on16 at this point, hopefully more will sign up!

Home Sector League Game Cancelled
by Fuseblown on 2002-08-02 | Categories: TradeWars News, TradeWars.ws
Since there are a ton of League games coming up over the next two months, I'm going to put mine off for the time being. I would have to postpone it either way once again...I could not finish the edits in time to keep my game sanctioned.
Tons of stuff going on with my business and I really can't keep up with the time and effort to run a League game AND worry about work, moving to a new house, etc. right now. I'll do it ASAP though...I promise.
My apologies.
Couple of New TWX Scripts
by Fuseblown on 2002-07-30 | Categories: TradeWars News, Helpers/Scripts, TradeWars.ws
Synack has posted a couple of scripts onto a web page for all to download... [check them out](https://web.archive.org/web/20020000000000*/https://www.geocities.com/eshicks1/tw2002_scripts/).
Geocities won't allow the files to be downloaded unless they are HTML or image files...so you will have to copy and paste the script code into a text file and save it as a TWX script in order to download and use them.
Good to see some others getting into scripting and posting their work for others to use!
TW League Sysop Rules Posted!
by Fuseblown on 2002-07-30 | Categories: TradeWars News, TWGS Servers, TradeWars.ws
Many of you have been waiting for it, but it still may not be * **completely** * what you were waiting for...
The new [Sysop Rules](https://web.archive.org/web/20020000000000*/https://www.twleague.com/syrules.asp) for TW League servers have been posted at the [TW League site](https://web.archive.org/web/20020000000000*/https://www.twleague.com/).
There are still some matters to discuss, such as the game limit per year (currently set at 2 games per year per server) and whether or not we will switch over to a new rating system.
For the remainder of the year we will run the current rating system and the reverend's proposed rating system side-by-side and do a comparison at the end of the year to see which will work out best for us.
That's it for now, if you want to discuss, please go to the [TW League forums](https://web.archive.org/web/20020000000000*/https://forum.twleague.com/) and post away!
2002 TWCon A Go?

**Written by: [SupG](mailto:supg@mn.rr.com)**
this year's tradewars convention is going to be held in minneapolis, mn if there is enough interest shown.
i will be hosting the event, helping with lodging information and planning activities for the 4 days of the convention.
the proposed dates of the convention are september 18th - 21st.
hotel rates in the area seem to be pretty consistant to $89 plus tax per night, but i will also be searching for more affordable options as well.
activities to be planned may include, a visit to the mall of america, valleyfair (amusement park), fort snelling (war memorial and state park; hiking, etc...), casinos, canterbury park (horse racing/card club), science museum in st. paul, various theatres and comedy clubs, and downtown nightlife.
i'm sure there are more activities that i'm leaving out that can/will be planned for the event.
computers (at least 2) will be available at my place in case people need to run turns in games.
if we can get at least 6 people to confirm and commit to a hotel stay then we can go ahead with the actual planning.
if you are interested or need more information please let me know.
Farewell to Jackal
by Bad Girl on 2002-07-26 | Categories: People
I met Jon (Jackal) in my third Tradewars game on a small board. We didn't say much to each other he knew I was a newbie..gave me some pointers and we went our separate ways. Many games later we met again and played and flamed each other mercifully for about a year on the bbs Evolution. Then we struck up a friendship. We found out we graduated from the same university and a kinship evolved. ( GO UCONN Huskies). Jon had a strong personality but the kindest heart of anyone I every met. If someone was in need of anything..Jon was there for them, no questions asked. But Jon had a hot temper and could flame with the best of them! (was on the receiving end of those too). I will miss the phones calls Jon made to Guard and I. He would call just to check up and make sure everything was ok.
I very seldom played with Jon but played many games against him. He loved to build those figs! He wasn't the best player but he it was a game he loved. And he did play it well. His style was not like mine and we clashed when we did play together but it was his style and it worked. Even though Guard and I retired from Tradewars there are a few warriors we miss. And this fallen warrior will be very missed by Guard and I.
Jon now that you have landed on Stardock for the final time...remember our thoughts will always be with you. May you rest in peace.
Third Time is the Charm...
by Fuseblown on 2002-07-26 | Categories: TradeWars News, TWGS Servers, TradeWars.ws
Due to the fact that I could not connect to the administration port on the TWGS last night (due to our Cisco Pix Firewall in the office), Fred Wreck's was not banged, yet again. :(
However, third time is the charm. Today at 6:0pm EDT (while I'm still at work and near the server), I will open Fred Wreck's for all to enjoy. Again, there are a few edit changes to try and make it last longer than a couple days, heh.

Provider Problems -- Hopefully Temporary
by Fuseblown on 2002-07-26 | Categories: Off-Topic, TradeWars.ws
You may be experiencing some slow connections tonight and possibly into tomorrow and the next couple of days. Our main Internet pipe provider for our ISP is currently overloading their DS3 circuit that our T1 connection is running on. Things just got bad tonight because of the cable modem and DSL subscribers that they just acquired over the weekend. It's a college town, lots of kiddies downloading pr0n and mp3z...you know the deal.
Basically, we're working to get this all sorted out, possibly going to be switching over to another connection as soon as we possibly can. We may be switched to another DS3 circuit, but that remains to be seen at this point. We're bitching up a storm...hopefully things will be fixed VERY soon.
Sorry for any inconveniences folks. Bear with us...we're all in this together..
