Just renewed the domain for 5 years. I doubt I’ll ever let this site die after 11 years or so already. It’s older than my oldest child, for goodness sakes.

Stardock Moved To Hosting Service
I’ve moved The Stardock to hosting outside of my own house for the first time ever. This shouldn’t mean much to anyone but if you have a problem with TWGS Search, this might be why. TWGS Search should still be updating and running fine, but we won’t know 100% for awhile. If you have problems, IM me (ICQ:7971550, AIM: EleqTriziT) and I’ll take a look.
Thanks.
Welcome to the New Stardock
I decided I don’t have a lot of time these days to be writing custom apps for these types of things, and today’s software is so nice, I should just install something already made. Wordpress fit the bill and here it is. This will replace the forums and the previous site, and comments can be made to posts here directly.
As a result of this change, and the fact that I’m admining classictw’s forums, Tradewarsforums.com will go away. All accounts are gone and if you want to comment on this site, just make a new account here. The login is at the bottom of the right side links. I’ll probably make it more obvious later.
The biggest result of my changes is that I’ve painstakingly gone through the old news and entered them all into individual posts, as opposed to the previous method where I just sorted them by month/year and threw them into the library. Further, I’ve expanded the history of entered posts to include TW Gazette (Timberwolf) and Kitten’s Playground (Kitty Moon/Icehawk), in addition to the Home Sector/Tradewars.ws (Fuseblown) and Tradewars.or (Mana Knight/Bad Girl) already present. I’ve also added a few pages from Jackal’s old site, which include results of the 3rd Annual TW Awards.
If you have some old archived news, send them my way.
Because I had to enter these posts under the names of the users who made them, those accounts have already been created. If you try to register and your name is taken, contact me and I’ll send you your password.
Files – There are no files at this time. I’m still trying to decide what I want to do with them.
TWX Archives – I’d like to offload the TWX message archives to someone currently handling or dealing with TWX. If you are that person, contact me and I’ll email you a zip of the messages.
Hope you enjoy the new site and design. One thing that TradeWars has been sorely lacking is good site design. I think this new site is beautiful, hopefully you do, too.
Thanks
EleqTrizi’T
Indexing TWGS’s behind Synchronet now possible!
Until now, the TWGS Search system could not index TradeWars servers that ran behind a BBS. Drakamir has released an add-on for Synchronet, the TWGS Robot Service, that allows our robot to connect and index servers running on Synchronet systems. His BBS, Holodeck One, is now a TWGS Search-enabled server.
If you run a Synchronet system and would like to add it to TWGS Search, download and install this javascript add-on and visit our sysop’s page to add your server.
Ent Editor Exposed
Ent Editor over at The Home Sector has been exposed for the CHICKEN-shit he is with the emphasis on Chicken. CBS228 had an idea to expose him and told me how he could do it. So I agreed to participate in the expose` of Ent Editor. You can read the full story at Fugitives From Fate website. The F3 website, which started as a permacorp website, now has turned into a full fledged TW news website and CBS228 has done one hell of a job in his news. Who will be the next person to be exposed in something? Just wait.
Final TW Gazette News Update
This is my final installment of the Trade Wars Gazette update. I wanted to cover a number of subjects before I bring down this website for good. First off, I’m happy to announce, as many of you already know, that Eleqtrizi’T has brought the Home Sector website back up online. It was only perhaps last year that he took down the BBS and handed over the website maintenance to Fuseblown. But Fuse himself ended up a little busy to take care of it, so it looked like the Home Sector was gonna die for good.
Then Easy E put out a comment page on his website where people could post their thoughts on what he should do with the Home Sector and based on those comments, he has brought the Home Sector back online. I’m very happy about this. Trade Wars was never the same without E and when he left, he also left a big void in the community no one has not been able to fill.
Say what you want about Hardcoded or Coastgames, two of the leading servers today, but no one could hold a candle to the Home Sector TWGS/Stardock BBS. Games like the Title Game along with his other trademark games like Massive, One Love, etc. were ultra competitive and classic battles. Eleq’s edits were out of ths world and I hope the return of the Home Sector website also is followed by the TWGS or BBS soon.
Another subject I wanted to cover is the U S O. This year, for the first time in U S O history, Bad Girl is no longer the moderator and that in itself is a good thing. She has made way too many mistakes in the past which had a major effect on the games. I’m not gonna get into that now, but I just want to say I have 100% confidence this year’s U S O should be one of the best tournaments of the year. Silver Dragon should do all right with it.
Next involves the passing of two members of the community in the past year. As many of you know, Jackal lost a valiant battle to cancer early last year and late last year, Kitty Moon AKA Rave AKA Lisa Wilson-Cutler died in a car accident. My thoughts and prayers go out to the familes of these two individuals. River Rat will run Jackal’s Lethal Lotto game at Alien Base and I trust he’ll do a fine job with it.
I also wanted to say this to each and everyone of you in the community: I wanted to let everyone know I have no beef whatsoever with anyone in the community. This includes Space Ghost, Kemper, Prestone, both Doctors, etc – all players that I have tangled with in the forums. Trade Wars is only a text based game that sometimes can get out of hand. Many people have lives that revolve around TW such as having a computer on 24/7 and running a bot to guard a home base and have an alarm go off to wake someone if he is being invaded. If you have to do that, then you know TW has control of your life. It should be the other way around. That’s the nice thing about Cherokee’s “I have a life” game where there is a 45 minute time limit. Unfortunateley, even I didn’t have time to play that one though I wanted to.
There’s been a lot of bitching lately that everyone needs to lighten up and realize it is only a fricking game, not something in real life to bitch about in the forums. Trade Wars is simply a game, nothing to get worked up over. I think all the fights is why a lot of members like BG, Guardian, Eleq, Cruncher, etc have left at one time or another. To sum it up, debates are nice in that conflicts can get resolved, but when you have turds like Res Judicata come in the forums and start crap, that’s another thing and we don’t need that.
Finally, this domain is going down for good very soon. I have until this fall to decide if I wanna let it go or renew it. Trade wars is addicting enough that I could very well bring the site back online later this year. Right now, I’m just not interested in Trade Wars to warrant maitaining the site though Eleq’s return did inspire me to write this final article and perhaps even tempt me to bring TW Gazette back online for good, but common sense won out and I decided to write this one final article.
Peace out – Timberwolf
TWGS Offline for Now
The server crashed again late Thursday night. At this point, I’m taking the server offline for an undetermined period of time. I have an offer to relocate the TWGS temporarily until I can get things fixed.
I’m working on sorting that out right now…and if the relocation goes through, it will still be at least 8-10 days until I can deal with that. I have a very busy schedule for the next 9 days, and only 2 of those days I will be in town. I *may* be able to take care of it in those two days (Thursday and Friday), but I can’t say for sure at this point.
Once more, I apologize for all of the inconveniences.. hopefully things will work out in the end.
Closing in on the final straw
The TWGS is down yet again because of the server freezing. It was doing good for a while, now it’s doing it all of the time again.
I’m going to restart today at 3:00PM EDT. If it freezes again when I’m not available to put it back up right away, I’m going to take it down until I can get the problem fixed for sure. If this happens, it could be some time until I have the chance to really sit down and mess with it. I’m not going to run a half-assed server where it’s going to be screwing players over like this.
So the restart will happen in about 90 minutes from this post, again, if it goes down, I will be taking it offline for an undetermined amount of time. Could be a day, could be a week, could be a month until I get it fixed. I have a lot of other things on my plate right now outside of TW that are of #1 priority to me.
Home Sector TWGS Back at 6PM EDT!
The server will be coming back up at 6:00PM EDT. Sorry for the downtime, I really have to do something about this machine. :-
One Love Finished!
Corporation [2] are the winners of One Love this time around!
The team consisted of Banano, the reverend, Kemper3, Cbs228, Hollywood, and River Rat.
Congrats to them! The game is closed and all player passwords are changed. The game will be taken offline Sunday night or Monday morning…and I’ll either rebang it or replace it Monday or Tuesday. I’m trying to squeeze in some new games to change things up a bit.
